Description
Vilazodone hydrochloride tablets for oral administration contain vilazodone hydrochloride (HCl), a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and a 5HT 1A receptor partial agonist. Vilazodone HCl is 2-benzofurancarboxamide, 5-[4-[4-(5-cyano-1 H -indol-3-yl)butyl]-1-piperazinyl]-, hydrochloride (1:1). Its molecular weight is 477.99.
The structural formula is: In addition to the active ingredient, vilazodone hydrochloride tablets contain microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal silicon dioxide, sodium starch glycolate, magnesium stearate, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol, talc, titanium dioxide, FD&C Red No. # 40 Al Lake (10 mg only), FD&C Yellow No. # 6 Al Lake (20 mg only) and FD&C Blue No. # 1 Al Lake (40 mg only). vilazodone-fig.jpg
