What it is used for
Topiramate oral solution is indicated for:
Epilepsy: Initial monotherapy for the treatment of partial-onset or primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in patients 2 years of age and older; adjunctive therapy for the treatment of partial-onset seizures, primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, or seizures associated with Lennox- Gastaut syndrome in patients 2 years of age and older.
Preventive treatment of migraine in patients 12 years of age and older.
1.1 Monotherapy
Epilepsy Topiramate oral solution is indicated as initial monotherapy for the treatment of partial-onset or primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in patients 2 years of age and older.
1.2 Adjunctive
Therapy Epilepsy Topiramate oral solution is indicated as adjunctive therapy for the treatment of partial-onset seizures, primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome in patients 2 years of age and older.
1.3 Migraine
Topiramate oral solution is indicated for the preventive treatment of migraine in patients 12 years of age and older.

Description
Topiramate oral solution is available as a 25 mg/mL solution for oral administration. Topiramate has the molecular formula C 12 H 21 NO 8 S and a molecular weight of 339.36. Topiramate is designated chemically as 2,3:4,5-Di- O- isopropylidene-β-D-fructopyranose sulfamate and has the following structural formula: Topiramate is a white to off white powder. Topiramate is a sulfamate-substituted monosaccharide. It is freely soluble in dichloromethane. Topiramate oral solution is colorless to slightly yellow colored clear viscous liquid having berry flavor.
