Description

Fluphenazine hydrochloride is a trifluoromethyl phenothiazine derivative intended for the management of schizophrenia. Fluphenazine hydrochloride is described chemically as 4-[3-[2-(Trifluoromethyl)phenothiazin-10-yl]propyl]-1-piperazineethanol dihydrochloride and its molecular formula is C 22 H 26 F 3 N 3 OS

2HCl. The structural formula is shown below: Each mL of fluphenazine hydrochloride elixir for oral administration, contains 0.5 mg fluphenazine hydrochloride and alcohol 14% (v/v). Inactive ingredients: colorant (FD&C Yellow No. 6), flavor, glycerin, purified water, sodium benzoate, and sucrose. The pH range is 5.3 to 5.8. Chemical Structure
