Description

Dicyclomine hydrochloride is an antispasmodic and anticholinergic (antimuscarinic) agent. Dicyclomine hydrochloride tablets, USP for oral use contain 20 mg dicyclomine hydrochloride, USP. Dicyclomine hydrochloride tablets, USP 20 mg also contain inactive ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, dibasic calcium phosphate dihydrate, FD&C blue 1, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, pregelatinized starch, and sodium starch glycolate. Dicyclomine hydrochloride is [bicyclohexyl]-1­-carboxylic acid, 2-(diethylamino) ethyl ester, hydrochloride, with a molecular formula of C 19 H 35 NO 2

HCl and the following structural formula: Molecular weight: 345.95 g/mol Dicyclomine hydrochloride, USP is a white, crystalline powder. It is freely soluble in chloroform, methanol, ethanol (96 %), and methylene chloride, soluble in water, and very slightly soluble in ether.
